Please make sure that you have the necessary Prerequisite Knowledge before proceeding with this guide.
When you sign up on PlotX using an email, a service called Magic Link creates a new Ethreum wallet for you (more details here). This wallet is meant to be used only on PlotX, so you can think of it as your non-custodial PlotX account.
Since it is newly created wallet, it doesn't have any funds in it yet (just like any other wallet), and hence, you need to deposit some funds in it from another wallet to start predicting on PlotX.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to deposit funds in your Magic Link wallet:
Deposit Funds
pageA guide on how to log in using your email can be found here.
After logging in, navigate to Home > My Funds >
Deposit Funds
.
In the first step, you need to connect the wallet which you'll use to deposit funds in your Magic Link wallet with the Deposit Funds
page.
For example, if I have some $PLOT in my MetaMask wallet, and I want to deposit/transfer them to my Magic Link wallet, then I'll select MetaMask in step 1 and approve the connection.
My MetaMask wallet is now connected with the Deposit Funds
page.
In the second step, you need to select the network (Ethereum or Polygon) from where you're bringing funds into your Magic Link wallet.
Since PlotX is running on the Polygon Network, depositing funds in your Magic Link wallet may mean one of two things:
Ethereum to Polygon
You have funds in MetaMask or some other wallet on Ethereum and you want to deposit them in your Magic Link wallet on Polygon
Polygon to Polygon You have funds in MetaMask or some other wallet on Polygon and you want to deposit them in your Magic Link wallet on Polygon
Depending on which of the above two is applicable, select one of the two choices given in step 2.
If you are depositing funds from Ethereum, then make sure that you have enough ETH in the wallet you connected with the Deposit Funds
page in step 1 to cover the necessary gas fees.
If you're depositing funds from Ethereum, then you have two choices available in terms of deposit speed:
Standard Deposit
This method uses the Matic PoS bridge
Deposit time = ~8 mins
Fees = Gas fees to be paid on Ethereum
Fast Deposit (temporarily unavailable)
This method uses Connext
Deposit time = ~3 mins
Fees = Connext fees (calculated at the time of deposit) + Gas fees to be paid on Ethereum
Choose the deposit method you're most comfortable with.
For deposits from Polygon, there is only one method of deposit, i.e., Standard Deposit, which is selected by default and takes below 2 minutes to be completed.
Enter the amount you want to deposit in your Magic Link wallet and hit the Deposit
button.
Depositing from Polygon - If you're depositing funds from Polygon, then all you need to do is sign the initiated transaction in your wallet, and the PlotX protocol will pay the required gas fees on your behalf.
Depositing from Ethereum - If you're depositing funds from Ethereum, then you'll need to pay gas fees for the deposit transaction(s) on Ethereum from the wallet you connected with the Deposit Funds
page in step 1.
For first time deposits, users will have to make a one-time approval transaction, before moving on to the deposit transaction.
